Blizzards, white-outs, power outages, road closures, stranded vehicles – just another winter in our hometown of McCloud, CA. But even by McCloud standards, this year’s winter was especially white.
For many of us at TerraMai, the end of the regular work day simply meant the start of a second shift, manning tractors, snow blowers and shovels to clear the day’s dump of snow from home driveways and entryways.
But beyond the extra work and inconveniences, the snow holds many charms. The pleasure of strapping on some skis and shuffling out the back yard and into the woods is one of the great perks of living where we do.
The local Mt. Shasta Ski Park is also flush with snow and blissfully uncrowded. All this snow also means the local aquifers will get a much needed infusion after the dry year of 2006-07.
Such intense seasons help make the Mt. Shasta area one of the most scenic anywhere. Sparkling winters, blossoming springs, sunshine summers, rich autumns – every season presents its own singular splendors.
