barn redwood knee braces
Calling them the “bees knees” may be
a bit much, but these all-heart, old-growth redwood “knee
braces” are definitely special. These relatively short, stout
pieces were used to brace large beams in an old, 1890’s-era
barn in Humboldt County on the North Coast of California –
the heart of redwood country. These pieces are large enough for
a variety of uses, including furniture and finish applications.
As-is, these pieces show the grayed-out weathered patina of antique,
exposed redwood. The as-is surface character also includes some
areas of white paint. Remilled, these pieces reveal the deep, dense-grain
auburn beauty of old-growth redwood. This inventory is a bargain
at $5 per board foot. Purchase must be for the entire 240 board
feet of remaining inventory.
